flower power!
at lunch time we collected another batch of beautiful flowers from sainsbury's. Sheila offered to help with the arranging, as did patty and hilda. lucille came along to watch and got roped in to do a vase. they were rewarded with chocolate!
meanwhile, the rest of the residents were being entertained in the lounge by Sue who was holding a reminisence session.

a bit of glamour
we started the week with an art and craft session with julie, making corsage's to wear at this week's Oscar night. a lovely array of ribbon, flowers, feathers, and sparkly bits inspired the residents to create something original!
pictured is patty, and phyll. we were also joined by ursula, iris, marie, jean and happily we were assisted by volunteer Joan.

end of another week...
this was the other sketch done by Christopher White which is now featuring on our very own Mount Ephraim greeting cards! its one of the dogs ursula had painted a few years ago and he just sketched it in oil pastels.friday is fish 'n' chips lunch, bingo in the afternoon with Christianne and opening the 'outreach' library books.
Peggy's family visited her in the library this afternoon, and over a gin and tonic they helped sort out the library - we now have 4 shelves of romantic fiction all in one place! plus of course all the poetry, classic novels, thrillers etc all together and easy to find! had hoped John would help but he is very busy working on his family history and research which he does on his own computer so he was excused!!
helen c had visitors as did dorothy b and win... the staff room was being repainted in a subtle shade of yellow and the 'new' hair salon was finished and ready for business.
next wednesday is MEH Oscars night - we have had a good response to invitations but if anyone has not yet replied please do so - we need to order enough champagne!

monday afternoon tea party!
we had arranged a trip to polhill today as they hold monthly tea dances in the restaurant area. here we have phyll, john, lucille and hilda accompanied by sheila and diana. it was a lovely day and our table was by the window, in the afternoon sun.
none of us got up to dance - but there were plenty of 'regulars' who did and we enjoyed watching them whilst sipping our tea!

work in progress!
Julian has been working very hard over the winter, clearing the garden and planting up the spring bulbs. took this photo today showing the crocus bulbs just beginning to flower outside marjorie and phyll's windows.
the other work in progress is the new hair salon along the annexe - here we have the skip which was delivered last week and will soon be full of rubbish from the refurb...
hollie to the rescue!
in spite of the rain we managed to have a nice afternoon, even when the lifting apparatus on the mini bus wouldnt work and hollie had to get it moving manually! thank goodness she was on board to help out!

art and craft afternoon
everyone looks very hard at work, being creative today. we are in the process of making a collage wall hanging for the dining room, made with silk, paper and various other materials...
Julie our tutor managed to get my sewing machine working, lucille and patti are making flowers, marie and marian made pompoms, ursula was coating the paper flowers in pva medium, jean and iris made tassels...
this is a 'work in progress' and will take a few more weeks to complete but the process is fun and will involve as many residents as possible...
looking good peggy!
tuesday fun...
