Lots going on today - hairdressing computer lessons, art and craft, Zumba gold ... Lots of visitors, a new arrival, and Beth's visit from school . Last minute preparations for golf day tomorrow - luckily Eileen was on hand to assist

Remembering Sylvia

Sylvia White died peacefully at MEH a few days ago and her funeral was held today. We held a memorial tea in the lounge and shared some stories about her time with us. She is remembered as a clever, witty person, who enjoyed her daily dose of fresh air with a cigarette in the garden! she loved art and opera and she had written several childrens books as Sylvia scott white ...

Residents' accolades 2013

the annual presentation of accolades to residents was made by Karen at lunchtime yesterday.

 there were many worthy recipients of a special certificate in recognition of their contribution to daily life at MEH -  from watering the flowers and feeding the fish, to being involved in the interviews of new staff.  Patty was out with her family at lunchtime and received her certificate later, as did Marion and Doreen.

THURSDAY -

we are enjoying a visit from Lyn today, who has travelled from Suffolk to see what we get up to in Mount Ephraim House.

A new craft...

While Mary, Peggy, patty, Joan and Mary h were being 'arty' out in the garden, the other residents were enjoying heather's class ' music for health' in the lounge ...

Painting pebbles...

After being inspired by the grandchildren's amazing artwork on the beach, we decided to paint some pebbles from the garden. Mary and Peggy surprised themselves by how how much they enjoyed it. They were joined later by Joan and grace. Sue was entertaining the residents in the lounge with variety hour but the weather continues to be so good that not everyone wants to be indoors!!!

lunch at the hydro....

today we arranged a trip to the Hydro Hotel in Eastbourne  www.hydrohotel.com    for the residents to have lunch, sit in the sun, take the sea air and enjoy a game of croquet or a round on the putting green.

everyone agreed it was a lovely day and we have the photos to prove it!





peggy, joan and denis played wheelchair croquet and putted their way round the green, Eileen, mary f, Gloria and Philip had a game or two but Lucille and mary p preferred to sit it out!  marise met her family at the hotel and they joined us out in the garden, where the waiters brought tea and biscuits. fantastic service in a beautiful setting and a great drive home via pevensey castle.

Another sunny afternoon...

Peggy and Mary decide its too nice to be indoors ( even if Jon McDevitt is here to sing for us!) and so when volunteer Beth arrives, they have some fun with jenga and hoopla!! I can hear Peggy laughing and enjoying herself ( and this from someone who says they don't like playing games) lol

Marie, iris and Hester are having computer lessons this afternoon and charity the hairdresser is in making everyone look wonderful...

she was soon joined by Peggy and Ann who had an old friend visit all the way from Eastbourne!

It's Friday again....

Knit and natter was in full swing when no got here today - the squares are mounting up, soon be enough for a blanket . The garden is lovely this time of day, cool and peaceful - just the trickle of the water fountain. Joan has just come out to join lucille, Mary and phyl on the patio

Art studio celebration

Hard to believe it was two years ago the art studio was opened In memory of the lovely Ursula White ... We celebrated with tea and cakes and a fun art challenge. Marie,Joan,lucille, and Mary f took part and we ended up with an interesting collaboration piece ... Helen, Peggy, and Joan, Mary h, observed and patty joined us later

Knit and natter goes to the extreme

We introduced the concept of yarnbombing today during the knit and natter session - in preparation for when we go and join the TW Hobbycraft knitting circle! Here is our first piece - a storage box, yarnbombed with pieces of Grace's knitting and filled with some oddments of wool!! We looked at some images on google - Marie loved the trees and Eileen was quite taken with the bicycle ...
