Sir Guy comes out to watch the display

firework night

bonfire night at MEH - our kind volunteers arrived with lots of exciting fireworks and put on a fantastic display for our residents who were sat in the lounge overlooking the garden and could watch proceedings in the warm.

gordon, peggy & sylvia  braved the chilly night, but it was well worth it. 'Sir Guy of Ephraim' was on standby for going up in smoke, but reprieved at the last moment as it was quite windy this evening and we didnt want to set the garden alight!

dug pays a visit

lovely autumn monday morning. I took Dug the westie into work today to see the residents - he was very good and enjoyed all the attention.




elizabeth came in to read poetry and play some specially selected music she had put onto her computer - patty, susan, marjorie, dorothy, marie, pat, doris etc had a very relaxing and enjoyable morning.

Sir Guy of Ephraim - who looks quite at home here. Peggy came along to see the finished result and was most impressed. marie and phyll had gone off to 'reminesence session' in the lounge, with Sue (which is always a popular hour)



we asked Patty to make a sign to put round his neck, asking for donations for our firework fund, and he will be sitting in the foyer from tuesday afternoon and will meet his fate on thursday evening.

monday afternoon's art and craft class - we are making the Guy ready for our bonfire and firework party on thursday evening (all welcome to come and watch) Iris did the hands, pat did the feet, gordon and phyll did the body and marie did the legs!

it was a real team effort and great fun.

the residents received some visitors

during supper, the residents were visited by Sarah (carer) and her family. They look amazing - as they walked in the residents gave them a round of applause!!

Halloween party at MEH and the residents are getting ready to go into supper!

who got the chocolate cake?

well, we can reveal it was Sharon who bought this gorgeous chocolate cake from the cake stall at our christmas fayre. I wonder who she is going to share it with...

answer: she shared it with all of us - after the staff meeting on friday! delicious...

our xmas fayre

today we held our annual xmas fayre, and it was a great success, thanks to our residents (marie and marian) who manned a stand, our volunteers, christiane, joan, allison, carolyn and caroline, all the people who came to support us and our kind gardener who provided the plants. also thanks to joan and sheila who made lots of gorgeous cakes, and karen who knitted for england. it was a great team effort and I think we raised over £400 (double that of last year's fayre) which was amazing.




I think we will have to have a spring fayre next march/april - something to look forward to!



Carolyn served mulled wine and mince pies - and played the first christmas music of the year...

happy birthday pat

pat celebrated her birthday today; here she is opening her cards, and wearing her new brooch (a present from MEH)









then at super time, out came the birthday cake (made by Sheila) and she had to blow out the candles while the residents sang 'happy birthday' She was joined by her family (laden with cards and presents and flowers) so hope she has a lovely evening.

I spent the day getting things ready for the christmas fayre; julie came to help, pricing up and packaging. pat and patty made some christmas decorations, and we were joined later by 'new girl' Doris (and her daughter helped) and Phyll.

the film '27 dresses' was showing in the lounge.

helen wins the jackpot!

Christiane came to call the numbers today, and was joined by helen of troy, lady helen, susan h.s, phyll, marie, bob, doreen, ursula; everyone won a prize (eventually) with crunchies being the most popular!!




karen heard today that 3 of her staff have been shortlisted for a prestigious 'care award' namely Tracey (carer of the year) Diana (ancillary worker) and Paul (chef) - she has ordered the limo already!
