happy birthday week!

trip to tonbridge

although our trip to the spa valley railway was postponed, we went out to tonbridge instead - John wanted to visit a bookshop, Marie and Helen were happy to browse and phyll had some shopping to do.  we met up in the Henry Bean a lovely weatherspoons establishment on the high street before heading back before the rush hour.  

a busy morning with keep fit and art and craft...

While a keep fit to music class was going on in the dining room, julie came today to help residents with the wall hanging that we started some weeks ago. quite a few people have had a hand in putting this collage together - from painting flowers, sewing flowers, fraying the fabric etc. today - dorothy f, peggy j, marie, and patty were happy to supply the finishing touches...we will unveil it in the dining room very soon.

garden continues to flourish!

an update on the new veg patch and back garden... a couple of residents have expressed a desire to help with the hoeing - are you listening Julian???

helen's new hairdo!

as we had the camera handy, thought we would snap a picture of Helen C showing off her new hairstyle.. she had just returned from the MEH 'salon' with Charity our hairdresser, and here she is getting an admiring glance from Karen.

remembering Ursula

today we remember a very special lady, Ursula White, whose funeral was held today and the wake at Mount Ephraim House, so that residents and staff could pay their respects. x

amazing how quickly the vegetable patch has taken hold - wont be long before residents will be eating home grown produce...

party night with Doug Wake who arrived at supper time to play residents favourite tunes and join them in a sing-a-long-after they had eaten! a lovely relaxing way to round off the week.

karen gets another lesson

Patty was quite impressed today with karen's progress so far on the piano playing...

poster patty

hairdressing day today - grabbed patty after her appointment to ask if she would do a poster for tomorrow's 'singalong' evening in the dining room. she was happy to oblige.

val took sheila, iris and marie through their paces during today's computer training and they did really well... meanwhile, our new classical music club started in the library. introduced residents (hilda, patty, lucille, phyll, sylvia and gordon) to the IPod and some of the music loaded onto it. we had a bit of beethoven, some mozart and hayley westerner for starters!

just breaking for coffee after a particularly enjoyable sonas session with sue is helen, robert, win, margaret b and margaret m and pat!

a royal wedding 'street' party at MEH

wedding cake, bunting, flags, dressing up and a super buffet - what more could you want to celebrate the Royal Wedding... everyone had a great time.

trip out to langton green

we arranged a trip out today for the residents (who didn't go out last week) to see the bluebells and go for a drink - alas, no bluebells in sight (where did they all go?) so after a little drive out as far as groombridge, we ended up at 'the Hare'... in Langton Green for coffee/tea and half a lager for gordon!

peggy, gordon, doreen, lucille and jean had a lovely afternoon - marise and marian decided not to go after all - maybe next time...

Lesley and Ray Orsen entertained residents with a classical music concert this afternoon in the lounge and sue enjoyed a lovely keep fit session this morning with some very energetic and enthusiastic participants - must be the sunshine cheering everyone up!

after a walk in the sunshine, Jean was persuaded to help with the making of some bunting in readiness for our royal wedding party on friday...dont forget relatives & friends you are welcome to join us!
