March highlights

Sunny start to the week

John was happy to pot some seeds in the sunshine today .... Nancy came out for a walk later but it had turned very chilly by then!   We picked lots of pretty mini daffs for the Home too.  Elizabeth and Joan made their weekly visit to provide a bit of culture and Rita's regular Monday chats with the residents always welcome. Sue's Variety Hour was testing the residents knowledge of films and old TV programmes and their recall was impressive.  We had a session of 'open the box' after tea today - a box provided by the local library containing all sorts of nostalgia. Marie enjoyed the 50's scrapbook and patty got engrossed in an old magazine....must remember to return it to the box tomorrow.  We would have played the 50's cd but there was a programme on with the Queen at Westminster Abbey for commonwealth day so it will have to wait!

Keep fit and Sonas, visit from Rita, lunch and then a mad dash to get everything ready for a 'baby shower' tea in the Lounge for volunteer Christina who is expecting her baby girl in March.

Monday 8th Feb

Storm Imogen today, very wet and windy!
Elizabeth and Joan braved the weather for Monday Club   Sue was back in one piece from her skiing holiday for 'variety hour' this afternoon and the residents were pleased to have her back.

Felicia tried her hand at some magic painting (see photos) and Andrew had visitors who challenged him to a game of mahjong ...

At 4pm Bella arrived for her final day volunteering at meh as her school work is getting a bit more intense. We will miss her lovely cheerful personality but she is welcome back anytime.  Poor Archive got soaked to the skin on his way from school to meh and had to dry off in the laundry!

Memorial tea

On Monday 1st February we held a memorial tea in the lounge to pay our respects and remember Jean,Mabel,Gloria and Audrey.  They will be missed by everyone at MEH and our thoughts are with their family and friends.

Goodbye January

A month of highs and lows, sunshine and showers, birthday celebrations and funerals....
We celebrated January birthdays with Joan s and Liz, Nancy and Joan w.
We said farewell to Jean, Mabel, Gloria and Audrey and remember them with  love.
We kept busy with art and craft, music and exercise, fun and games;
welcomed new volunteers, new resources, a new smart TV for the lounge and recorded our entry for the greensleeves song contest!
We received details for the planned refurbishment of MEH and met Sarah's new baby, Jack.

Friday update

Three quarters way through January already and the time has flown by.  We've had some very changeable weather and not everyone has been able or felt like going out. Today we organised a shopping trip to the town but only Peggy Marie and Eileen braved the rain and cold to spend some money!

Sadly in January we have lost some much loved residents; Mabel, Jean h, Gloria and Audrey f. and our thoughts are with their family and friends.

There are plans to revamp and enlarge MEH and we will let you know once the plans go in as we need lots of supporting letters to make sure it happens.

Residents here have been keeping busy with drawing and colouring, keep fit and quizzes, computer lessons, choir practice,
bingo and communion, birthday tea parties and enjoying the various entertainers we have visit.  We've had a new 'smart' tv installed and once the Internet is sorted we will be able to introduce everyone to the wonderful world of 'you tube' and BBC I player!

October highlights

October will be remembered for (mainly) sunny beautiful days, walks in the garden, lovely flowers, starting on the Xmas decorations and cards, and Halloween celebrations.
On a sadder note, we lost a dear resident, Marian - a beautiful elegant lady- but she will be remembered with fondness and love.

Halloween party ...

...a day early! We had fun with party games and manager Karen & care staff joining in ....!

Autumn glory

Beautiful October day;  mihaela and Harry took the opportunity to walk in the grounds with Jean and Gloria

Then it was keep fit and sonas followed by lunch.  Heather arrived full of the joys of spring for Music for Health to a packed lounge, including Anne celebrating her 90th birthday with family! Poppy and Peggy made cards and we were joined by volunteers Anne and Christina ( with cake!) to complete the afternoon.

Celebrations too for the twins, di and Sheila our domestic goddesses for their birthday today.
