chicken naming ceremony

today karen announced the most popular names as voted by the staff and residents; the six names chosen are as follows:

Karen - the 'bossy' hen - she seems to keep the hens in order and pecks them if they dont do as they are told!

henrietta - who has the most red feathers

BBQ - has mostly black feathers

Sybil - has a cocky quiff

mildred - has no quiff and ethel - who has a bald bottom!

pictured here are five of the black rock hens - one is hiding or maybe laying an egg!

andrews last day today

andrew chose mount ephraim to do his work placement and today was his last day before returning to school next week. he has worked well and enthusiastically in all departments of the care home - from serving tea to residents, changing lighbulbs and helping tim to collecting the eggs from our new chickens. a big thankyou is due to andrew and we wish him well for the future. we will miss having him around.

anyone for pea-soup?

sheila had a job for us today - podding peas for tonight's soup. pat, jean, patty and doreen (not pictured) joined in to help and daisy and jemma from the care team assisted. it was a lovely relaxing way to spend an hour, and the residents remembered doing this when they were younger!

hope the soup was good...
