full steam ahead!

marie, phyll, hilda, john and helen p enjoyed an afternoon trip on the spa valley steam railway today - from tunbridge wells to groombridge, and back again. we sat in the beautifully restored buffet car, and were served tea and biscuits by staff who are all volunteers and who do an amazing job.

great weather, lots of guests, plenty of Pimms, gorgeous cake, fab music by John (who even wrote a special song for Ursula) and our lovely guests of honour, the family of Ursula White to whom the art studio is dedicated. we are so pleased they could come today and 'do the honours' - I'm sure Ursula would have been proud...

scrabble club

small group today in the library for Anne's scrabble group which meets once a fortnight. although outnumbered by the women, eric did very well and got a respectable score but was just beaten by marie.!

lovely art class

julie introduced pastel art to our residents today - to begin with they weren't too keen (a bit messy they said!) but once they had a go and saw the effects one could achieve, they produced some excellent artwork. we were joined later on by pat's two grandsons who really enjoyed themselves and helped to inspire the other residents to lose their inhibitions and be creative!

friday afternoon activity on the patio!

it was a lovely afternoon and while many residents preferred to stay indoors for their weekly bingo game, margaret, patty, lucille, pat and grace joined in with some activity of the artistic kind! grace ,pat and lucille were sketching, patty did a poster for the art studio opening and margaret helped me to arrange some flowers from the garden.

Sarah introduced her new puppy to the ladies at meh on friday - audrey especially was pleased to meet him as she used to have one of her own...

shopping trip

thursday afternoon - after the ladies had their hair done in the morning it was time for a spot of shopping and tea in Beale's (tonbridge)
